Into the monkey forest

This Thai monkey forest is one of the main features of the village where I live in Thailand. You can find out where that is by going to the ‘About the forest’ page. These are exciting times in the village because the municpality (tetsaban) have great plans for the forest and as these plans develop and changes happen I will be recording them here. The key word is ‘develop’ rather than ‘change’ because the forest was registered as a conservation site some 50 years ago. But that doesn’t mean that no change has taken place. Trees have grown, trees have died, new trees have been planted, paths improved (though that is perhaps debatable). And most striking of all is that the monkey population has hugely increased. You can get to know our monkeys by taking a look at the ‘Monkey Gallery’ page.

I hope you will visit this blog again soon to find out more about what is going on in our monkey forest.
